Default [Q] HTC Sense security: locating phone

In the options somewhere I remember seeing an option to turn on and off the phone finder. Does that mean if you lose your phone and someone ticks that box then the sense security is basically disabled?

Yes, but you should either have a pattern lock or PIN to stop them getting into the phone in the first place.

+1

but if they know how to boot into recovery they can get around that..Especially once we get root. That's the only down side to having root. Your phone is still open game.

Also the tracking, at least for my phone, is in a wide 3/4 mile radius & the lock status takes like a while to actually lock your phone. Only the ringing of the phone is instant.

I can't wait for htcsense.com to be what it was promised to be when if first started with the Desire HD

*edit* sent out the lock command about 3 minutes before this post, still waiting for it to lock my phone even though on the site it says locked. Also, hit refresh location & still waiting for that to happen too.

*final update* took 1h15m for it to lock after the flag was sent
Samsung e315 > HTC MDA > HTC Kaiser > HTC Touch Pro 2 > HTC HD2 > HTC Sensation

Changes to Sensation tmous made

Wow that's a long time. Mine usually takes 5 mins or less and locating the phone is quick too. Ive noticed that it even turns on the gps to locate it.

5 mins is still pretty long, I use SeekDroid instead and it's almost instant since HTC Sense isn't polished.

when you use the site to locate your phone, how accurate is it for you?

TheftAware works off SMS and is locked away in the system unless you dial your specific security code. Even after factory reset. It will also call whoever you chose (2 parties I think) and send them SMS with the recent call records, gps activity, current phone number, etc.

All of this works even if the SIM is removed or changed !
