Default [Q] Is there anyway to change the PRL?

I am wondering if there is anyway to change the PRL on the Evo 3d.

I previously used the method posted by Techknowfile at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696073 to flash a different PRL to my Evo 4g...it makes a HUGE difference in the download speeds I get where I work.

Is there anyway to change the PRL on the Evo 3d right now or do I need to wait until root is achieved to use the old EPST.apk in that post?

+1

I would also like to be able to do this if possible. I don't have my Evo 3d yet, but the Fed Ex guy should be dropping it off on Monday.

I don't think changing the PRL requires root. It doesn't, according to the post OP linked. Looks like just entering in a menu, msl, and applying the file downloaded on phone.

The prl file for og evo is probably different from the 3d though.

I would really love for this to happen for 3d. If a custom prl isn't possible, is there a way to manually enter the prl settings from the modded og EVO prl files?

no root required, but the ##prl# cmd doesnt do anything. ##data# still works and you can easily pull your MSL from CDMA workshop, but im still playing around with how to force a manual prl update.

Well with the method that was used with the EVO you would replace the newer version of the EPST file with the older one. That restores the ##PRL# command and allowed you to manually update to whatever PRL you wanted. I was hoping it would be something as simple with the EVO 3d.

I see now gothir, need root too replace that file in system/app, then prl commands work. Drat! Really wanted to play around with those custom prl settings.

Sounds like the fix I'm looking for.

I am wondering if you can use CDMA workshop to drop in a PRL. There is a great post with step-by-step instructions to get CDMA workshop working with the EVO 3d at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1140870 ...just follow through the post and don't change the proxy settings at the end unless you want to.

Under the "Other" tab there is a section dealing with the PRL. The read button won't work unless it is a registered version but the write button seems to work since it will open a window to select a PRL. I haven't tried actually writing a PRL to the phone yet because I am not sure if all the PRL files are compatible with the phone. Would I be able to download the 00001 PRL file from the original post and put that on my Evo 3d or is that file only compatible with the original Evo?

There is also a method to change the PRL for the Epic 4g using this method at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898628 for a reference as to what I am wanting to do.
