Being s-off isn't required.
All that it does is that it allows editing of the filesystem while the phone is on.
If you're s-on you're not able to copy a file to /system/app with a root file manager.

i got stuck at step 3 after RUU , my phone cant change to clockmod recovery..please help me ,

Hey.. I tried downgrading my wildfire frm hboot 1.01.002 to 1.01.001 using your instructions but its not happening.. I tried it a couple of times but to no avail.. I made the gold card in d sd card n then ran the step2.bat .. in the start, the step2.bat wasnt even working but after tryin several times, even when it strtd working, it made my phone go into hboot n then HTC came written on my screen n some stuff was happening on d window which had opened frm step2.bat like it was transferring some zip file n then a few more lines came fast n the window just closed n I came back to the hboot screen in my phone.. n it still showed that I had got hboot 1.01.0002..
I tried it a couple of times but the same thing keept on happening.. please help...

P.S. Do I have to connect my phone to the computer during the step1.bat, n if yeah then in charging mode or mass storage mode?
