Default There is a chance for a rom with radio?

Hi all

I am a new owner of an ideos x5. I am very satisfied until now.

Now that we have many developers for ideos, can someone tell me if it is possible to enable the radio tuner for this device?

Thanks in advance

There is no radio chip in the ideos X5, sorry you will have to use internet radio with 3g module.

According to the specifications from hawaeii here:
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwid...ctId=3547&tb=0

Huawei clearly has some nerve stating it supports FM-Radio without providing a working app at all.

Not my FM app, nor the MIUI or cm7 app.

Does this device have a Broadcom or TI Bluetooth/WiFi chip ?

I suspect Huawei was planning to include FM but decided not to at the last moment for some reason.

carriers prefer you use their data plans of course....

and I think the carriers also effectively tell the manufacturers what to include or not.
I need "time off" so please refer yourself to ALL the info linked to post #1 below. Compatibility list, FAQ, info links...

There is a kernel driver for a Tavarua FM device.

Qualcomm TAVARUA FM.... Very interesting, I haven't seen any other phone using this device. The "Code Aurora" (Quicinc / Qualcomm) FM app from which mine is derived contains code for that chip and no other. So it's possible. If Huawei didn't sabotage it, intentionally or not.

Very strange FM story on this device. As dancer_69 pointed out, this official spec page clearly says "FM Radio ... Supported" : http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwid...ctId=3547&tb=0

But some on this thread indicated Huawei employees were saying it won't be supported, or wasn't capable of FM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1057214

Perhaps they decided not to support it for some reason, possibly even due to hardware issues that might prevent proper operation.

But that official Huawei web page and the fact that it has a kernel driver seem to indicate they were planning to support FM.

Information on Tavarua is hard to find. The best info is the source code in the Code Aurora FM app and some kernels contain the driver in these files:

drivers/media/radio/radio-tavarua.c
include/media/tavarua.h

This seems to be a V4L driver with quite a few private Ioctls. Is the device name /dev/radioX or /dev/marimba_fm or similar ?

Not much info on Qualcomm website except this: http://www.qualcomm.com/products-ser...ivity/fm-radio

Chipset Support

FM support is provided on:

* QTR8x00
* QSC61x5
* QSC6x95
* WCN2243 (BT/FM SOC)
I need "time off" so please refer yourself to ALL the info linked to post #1 below. Compatibility list, FAQ, info links...

Yeah it's registered at /dev/radio0.

I don't really like the chances of it working though. Huawei seem to like having a decent feature list, and then the implementation being generally half-arsed or buggy. If they didn't get it working then there's probably a reason for it, especially considering there's the Qualcomm app on CAF.
