Question [Q] [I9000] How to backup of a Fugumod Ultra based ROM without CWM?

Dear XDA members,

I am quite new to the modding community, but successfully flashed the Fugumod kernel (BE Ultra, after normal BE version and converting all to JFS), r383, on my stock JV9 (2.3.3). It's stable, fast, and I'm so happy with the result that I'd like to back up the whole system.

I searched the forums, and so know that, in such cases, CWM recovery should be the right tool for me, but it appears that CWM can't restore from a backup on this kernel.

I am not sure if the above linked post also means that images made with CWM are corrupted, or that ROM backups can still be made but another tool should be used to restore them (ODIN/Heimdall?). If anyone knows for sure, please tell me.

So, my question is: how should I go about making (and later restoring from) a ROM image of my whole stock JV9-based system with Fugumod Ultra r383, given that CWM will not be able to restore?

I also apologize for mild pollution of the Q&A forum with a question that should belong to the Fugumod development forum, but it appears that as new user, I can't post anything there, and ought to post my questions here.
