Default [Q] Some general questions about Sense from a new Android user

Hey everyone!

I am formerly of the Windows Mobile camp and finally made the jump over to Android. My Droid Incredible 2 comes in [hopefully] by the end of this week. I've played with Android as a dual boot on my HTC Touch Pro2, but it certainly doesn't compare to the look and feel of a real Android device.

So, I have a few questions that have been burning in my mind, maybe some folks could help me out.

What are the different versions of Sense on HTC's Android devices? I hear good things about the newest version, but I am told that the DInc2 doesn't have the latest and greatest.

Does anyone playing with the leaked Gingerbread ROM know if the Sense version was updated at all, or are there hardware requirements stopping that from happening?

What is up with HTCSense.com, I hear the DInc2 won't be compatible with the site, any idea why? It seems like a really good value-added type of feature.

What are some of the benefits of the upgrade to Gingerbread?

Any good suggestions for managing notifications? My fiancee just got the DInc2 and she charges it in a different room. I like to use my phone as an alarm clock, but I noticed notifications going off all night on her phone. Any way to stop notifications between certain hours or even just toggle them on and off easily? Ideally I would like to automate this with a way to override sometimes.

Any general advice that folks have for the phone itself?

Thanks everyone, and sorry for the extremely noob questions.

I only have 1 thing to advise. Wait for root. Don't put that ruu on, the you can try whatever Rom comes out. Cm7 blows sense out of the water

Try Shush! Ringtone Restorer. It silences your phone, and lets you choose when it will automatically come back on.

sense was not and will not be updated throughout the gingerbread roll out for the dinc2, probably any bugs or issues in the system will be addressed but i don't see them giving us a different version at all.

Thanks for the help folks!

Shush and Timeriffic seem like they might be what I am looking for. I'm not too hung up on Sense being an older version, I think what I was thinking of was when I heard HTCSense.com and its backup utility was said to be not compatible with the DInc2. From other things I have read, it appears that it will purposely never be compatible because of Verizon.

I'm also really really hoping this phone gets the ability to play Netflix Streaming. If the original Incredible can get it, I can't see why they can't find a way to make it compatible with the newer model.

There is a Rom for the Eris that is slowly getting HTCsense.com to work
