DONATE TO ME
I think that it has a lot to do with iOS's closed system.

Why? Because it does more, so you use it more. The real key to good battery life is the apps and widgets you use.

Despite all its flaws, Apple does use very good hardware. As in some of the best in the entire world.

Battery life is higher because it really isn't doing anything past what you are currently doing that present time. It doesn't do background data nor true multitasking. Simply put, if you turn off all your background data on your phone and didn't multitask, you'd see a tremendous increase in battery life. I've turned off background data for a day once just as an experiment and you'd be surprised how much that can increase your battery life. The thing is, it also makes the phone a lot less useful. For me, my Sensation makes it through a day with heavy use pretty well and on a gingerbread rom my g2x lasts a day. I don't need my phone to last me more than a day as I charge it every night. Sure I'd always like more battery life, but not at the cost of functionality (like the iphone).

well, Android is known of bad battery life. However, it is not so bad. I can get 15 hours+ out of my G2x on average. The battery comparison also varied on what size of battery you have in the phone and how often you used of the phone. So there is not a really fair comparison around. It's will be based on user preference. If you liked iOS, then use iPhone, if you like Android, then use Android phones.
