[Q] Phone won't charge while powered off

So I was going through qbking77's battery calibration video and encountered an issue here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbYVv...tailpage#t=88s

The issue is that even though my phone is powered down completely (even tried removing the battery after power off) my phone never enters the powered down battery charge mode. Instead the phone boots back into the full system as soon as I plug in the power. If I power off while it is already charging it preforms the shutdown and then immediately boots back up.

So what's going on here?

Stock EC05, rooted with a few stock apps removed (all on the thread linked in the Wiki, can't recall exactly what was removed). Not sure how long this has been going on, believe it worked at some point but who knows...

Its possible it could be the cable, it happens to me randomly, but rarely.

Awesome, you rock dude

I was using a LG wall-wart that had a standard USB female port with a 15ft USB cable plugged into it. Switching to a car charger that also had a USB female port and a standard data cable connected to it provided the same results. Connecting a USB cable directly to my PC also provided the same "full boot" results.

Connecting to the car charger that came with my car dock or a different hard wired charger provided the results I expected. I can only assume it's something related to the data lines being active on certain chargers/cables.
