No "Android OS" on my SGS2 after flashing this kernel. Very interesting. Somehow I don't believe it's gone though.

I think these two made it undetectable:

- Disabled Android Debug Logger / logcat
- Disabled kernel debug and cpu stats

... but it's still doing its thing in the background...

@hardcore: Could you comment on why you disabled these features in your kernel? Did you detect a bug in them which causes the "Android OS" bug?

Whether it has gone or is just hiding isn't really relevant to me - the battery is still lasting longer whatever it has done!

Does this mean that the Logcat is disabled for the whole system? so also logcat for apps is disabled?

I'm gonna try it to confirm.
I know what the aos bug is, and there seems to be a lot of confusion with regards to the %'s, just because something has a high % on the monitor doesn't mean it's draining battery.

I haven't had any wakelock or battery drain problems since about kf2.

But I'm glad it worked for you

This kernel is burning through my battery at an immense speed with WiFi on. Lost 5% in 45 minutes with the phone sitting idle doing nothing and only WiFi on. Will probably not last the night if it goes like this. I've rebooted, but it's the same. I'm returning to stock kernel.

Did you check to see if anything was keeping it awake?

Jumped over to the CF-KG3 kernel, because I needed to flash something via CWM... Had a go with the kernel, and cut the rope doesn't freeze anymore. Don't know if that's relevant information, but the KG3 kernel has a fix or two in it...
Device: Samsung Galaxy Nexus - 4.2

Well, the kernel is what lies between Android and the hardware. Android says what it wants done and the kernel tries to comply.

Did you get any hardware upgrades between the different versions? Did any new hardware become active? If not - no need for any big differences in the kernels.

What we want is flawless hardware driver modules for the kernel to load.
