Default [Q] tips for x8?

Hello dear XDA forum!

I'll start with an apology, I believe there are answers to my questions, but I'm just to confused to understand everything since there are answers all over the place. And I couldn't find anyone having the exact same problem as me.

So, I'm fresh to the Android OS(was on symbian before) and is awesome for now. I rooted the phone once, but then I couldn't get Wi-Fi to work and tried to hard reset it, couldn't turn it on anymore. Did a software reinstall and tried to root it again.
I understand what Superuser does roughly, but I have a feeling I don't use the benefits of the rooted phone fully. For instance, ROM Manager is not working at all, downloaded a ROM, starts, resets the phone, when the phone turns on it's like nothing ever happened, so a little help with that would be appreciated.
The second thing that is driving me crazy is the low space on the phones internal memory, and I just can't figure out how to install stuff on the SD card, I have "Root All to SD", but the thing just won't work.

Any useful tips for a new rooted x8 user are very very appreciated!

Thank you, HeLLaTec.

Well, im new to into this things, and i have this X8 since friday. And im exactly in the same place as you, i just rooted my phone, and installed on it the xRecovery, and made a backup of everything just in case. You should do that too.

There's a guide on this same forum for you to follow and install xRecovery.

Goodbye!

if you want to change your rom , use xrecovery , search the thread for install xrecovery on your phone.
then change your rom with xrecovery, dont forget to backup your old rom with xrecovery too,
if you want to put your app to sd card, use link2sd on market, and its free. but you must partition your sd card and follow the instruction in link2sd.
clear?

Thanks for the info, but looks like I'm having some issues with installing xRecovery, I followed a guide on how to install it. Downloaded 3 files, moved them to my sd card then used "Root Explorer" to move it to system/bin. The guide said that I can access xRecovery by holding the back button while the phone is turning on(the boot screen), but absolutely nothing happens, the phone just turns on.
Any suggestions on how to get that going?

Thanks, HeLLaTec!

Thanks a lot, turned out I didn't actually install xRecovery, but now I had it installed, went into it. Wiped everything, and now the phone won't go past the first Sony Ericsson logo.
Any suggestions?

Ok that helped a lot, fixed my phone now, managed to root it, put on xrecovery and root explorer, and now followed the link. Installed the ROM, but it just played an froyobread animation for a few minutes and now it just froze and nothing is happening... ideas?

Thanks, HeLLaTec.

Pull battery, enter xrecovery and do a full wipe and wipe dalvik cache and cache partition, Froyobread will take a few mins to start 1st time. Did you make sure your baseband is 15? this can cause some problems.

Ok, I'll try to do that. Can you please tell me if the wipeing will remove the root and xRecovery and everything?
And how do I figure out what "baseband" do I have?
Thanks for the reply!
