Yes, it shows other files. I just noticed doing another backup, the last lines said:
Backing up cache...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete!
The first time I did a backup, I forgot to put the su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip in the SD card. After putting in the SD card and doing a backup again, the files have not changed. Do I need to reinstall ClockWorkMod?
Shouldnt really need to but try it anyway. also Rename the zip to something else. su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip
Su-or-fu.zip and see if your phone accepts that lol, name of zip doesnt really matter, the contents will stay unaltered

AFAIK there would not be an ext on the sd card and that's why it is skipped during the backup.
Did you try the suggestion I gave of leaving the sd card in your phone, connect usb, choose disk drive mode and drag the su.zip file across? Other than that I'm not sure what else to suggest as recovery seems to be working if you can see other files etc.

still no luck. I deleted all backup files, did a new backup and got the same:
no sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext. and same files show-up, but not the su.zip file.
Oh well, getting s-off and clockwork recovery was quick and easy, but without finding the rooting file, it's worthless unless I flash a new ROM. That is not my goal, I just wanted to permanently root. But, I appreciate all the help.
