Default Can't watch Google Movies over HDMI out ?

So I rented a movie using the new Movies tab on my Transformer. I plugged in the HDMI out to my big TV and everything seemed to work fine, launcher showing and everything.

When I tried to play the movie the screen went black on both the transformer and the TV, but the sound still played from the movie over the TV speakers. If I unplug the HDMI cable the movie instantly works on the Transformer.

Are we not able to push Google Movies out of the HDMI port ? Maybe I just have a bad cable ? Everything else works fine though.

Anyone else have this issue ?

Default HDMI protocol implementation

I think its due to differences between HDMI protocol implementation on the devices on both sides of the cable. It happened a lot with other devices like HMDI out on ATI graphics cards and certain audio/video receivers like Yamaha. Also, early HDMI 1.3x specification was not implemented correctly on many devices...

I'm afraid its the same case with the Transformer and certain TV's. Some people report HDMI-out works on Samsung's...others have problem with Sony's...

The real problem is...where's the fault...should TV makers update their firmware (lot of newer TV's can be upgraded!) or should Asus update their Transformer firmware for more compatibility with peer devices?

Don't have an MP4 on hand, not a big recording/movie buff.

It doesn't work on either of my computer monitors either

I have the same problem. I have several mp4 movies that I've encoded myself and they all play just fine. This is a problem with the Videos app, and not the Transformer or the TV.
