Tested with Cat Nova 8'' (Weltbild) tablet - very cheap but popular one from Germany.
I have changed the heapsize, removed some unnecessary apps like fring ....

When starting Camera (EOS500D) and DSLR Controller at the same time it works perfectly, including video mode etc.

When the camera is connected and i start the app later, then i'll get the message "No compatible camera found" ... the reason may the missing of android.usbmanager class.

How much later? After 15 seconds, the camera usually shuts off if connected to the phone but DSLR Controller isn't running... Press the shutter button to wake it up.
I AM ON VACATION
I know, I still had lots of PMs and emails to answer, problems to debug, features to implement, updates to release, people to help, etc, but it'll just have to wait. But do not despair, I will return soon to procrastinate some more.

No, pressing shutter button don't helps in this situation.

Connecting Camera, starting camera , starting DSLR Controller - not working
Connecting Camera, starting camera and DSLR Controller at the same time - works perfect

I must start the app in the timeframe, when "BUSY" is shown on the Canon LCD ...
Also when DSLR was connected and i have removed the cam (shut down or removed from USB) and i connected it again - the app is still running but it will found the cam nevermore ...

But it is not a big problem - when you know the the workaround. Ever close or kill the app completely and start it again together with the cam.

If you mean android market app than yes, if you mean android market online (http : //market.android.com), than no.

I had originally purchased dslr controller from android market app on my thrive and then when I got cm7 up and running on my TP I tried to just go to the online android market (http : //market.android.com) and install it from there but it said "no devices associated or compatible" or something like that.

I then read that in order to dl and install from android market online you had to FIRST associate the device you are trying to install it on and the only way to associate the device is thru android market app (it will not associate online) so I had to install the market app on my cm7 TP and associate my device with the app and then I was able to install dslr controller from the android market app.

Thumbs up Playbook

Same thing on the Blackberry Playbook. Try the "Remote Release" app, and see if it works. It's free.
If the Remote Release app installs and launches, does that mean it will work? I have to try it out on my friends Playbook tomorrow without the cable.

Also, for the app to work on either the Playbook or Novo7 Adv, will it require an OTG cable?

Thanks again.

Ok, to make matters confusing, the Novo7 Basic has a MIPS processor and the Advanced has an ARM processor. That indeed does mean that it may work on the Advanced, and will currently not work on the Basic. You would still have to test it out (for example by testing "Remote Release") but it could work.

Same thing on the Blackberry Playbook. Try the "Remote Release" app, and see if it works. It's free.

The app itself is visible on all compatible Android versions, but does not check for USB host support.

Baiscally have the app still pop up the warning but when you click "OK" it closes the warning but not the app. Disable all of the camera related buttons until there is a camera plugged in.

Once again...I'm no developer, just a user that is trying to help out with getting the best user experience for you great app.

Thanks so much Chainfire for all of your hard work on this. Can't wait for the time lapse feature.

Any chance this is possible? Just curious because it would be nice to be able to set the app up how we need before actually hooking up the whole rig, such as at the office before a shoot. Let us know. Thanks.

I am guessing this would require alot of technical knowledge to get this USB Host mode running on a Desire? I have one, but I am not technically saavy when it comes to Android Devices, as this is my first one.

Perhaps this may be way over my head to even try?
