Hey. You don't really need the USB host support in question to do that. USB devices like MS optical mouse can be used with stock rom by using a correct cable.
However thats _not_ enough for DSLR Controller app to work. It needs the real usb host API to be compatible. AFAIK Android 3.x is needed for that at the moment.
USB host was also enabled for GS2 using 2.3.4. Samsung removed it in 2.3.5+. I installed a kernel to regain this functionality and did though it appears to be either missing something needed or not supported.
Is there a chance to get USB host APIs back on the Galaxy SII with Android 4.0? Hope it will be available soon...
I do expect it will be enabled again in Android 4.0 for the SGS2. I also think it would not be a far-fetched assumption that we will have ICS leaks for the SGS2 before the end of the year.
I AM ON VACATION
I know, I still had lots of PMs and emails to answer, problems to debug, features to implement, updates to release, people to help, etc, but it'll just have to wait. But do not despair, I will return soon to procrastinate some more.
Hey Chainfire,
Do you think we could all get a progress update on how the app is coming?
Maybe about what new features you are working on adding currently or any bumps you are having with those features. Maybe this awesome community here can help you smooth those bumps out.
I don't want this to be a ton of extra work for you but a while back you had some posts where you were talking about what you were currently working on implementing. We haven't got to see one of those in a while.
Thanks for great App, it has gotten better with every update and I am sure it will keep getting better. (Especially with a focus pulling function )
Look forward to hearing how the progress is coming. Thanks again.
At the moment I'm mostly working on core code for DSLR Controller... stuff you don't actually see but should have a positive effect on out-of-memory issues and such (less crashing, for those that experience it). Next to that, HDR, Timelapse, and Bramping are next in line are being worked on. In that order.
(I hope to release the next update next Friday)

I don't understand about problems with last release with Galaxy SII and android....this app works with sgsII and last cyanogenmod 7.1.0 or miui 1.11.11?

The 18th or 25th? (knowing that release dates can slide.. just wondering which friday )
Will that update just be the core code you are talking about?
I ask cause I mainly shoot HDR sunsets and want to use this for that, and where I live (west coast) its that time of year where the sunsets get very nice.
I currently use one of these I built http://www.hdrlabs.com/occ/index.html
but would like to move away from it as its a little fidgety and doesnt save any exposure settings in the photo as its just a bulb shutter release.
By now, we’re all quite familiar with Tasker, the personal automation app that seems to be able to … more
