Default [Q] Change root?

Hi,
I got a rooted wildfire with some old version of root but it's still rooted. Is there any reason to use a newer root to re-root or is that completely unnecessary?

Also, is there any reason why I should update clockwork mod?

Thanks on beforehand!

Not necessary, your "old" root should do.

Clockworkmod 3.x is necessary if you intend to flash Gingerbread ROM's.
