Modified Google Video app

Just got done reading that someone has modified the Google Movie app and we can now watch movies from the market on our rooted devices.

I take no credit for this, just found out about it now. Haven't had the chance to test it yet.

Anyone get this to work? I tried both versions he posted and they both force quit on my Tab.

Tried the one for Xoom toward the bottom of the post but that is a phone app, not tablet.

OK I figured I'd update.

The version on the SDX site is 1.0.14 or 1.0.13. Both force quit on me. I loaded back up (had made a backup) of the Videos.apk that had come preinstall on the Tab and the version was 1.0.10.

Anyway, I extracted that Videos.apk to my PC and decompiled it - I figured I would recreate the fixes from the SDX site on the version that came pre-installed and then maybe it wouldn't force close. Well, after decompiling it, the smali folder that was referenced didn't exist. I don't know if it didn't decompile properly (I didn't get any error messages...) or what, but I figured just to try, I'd rent a movie and see if it played.

Lo and behold, it plays just fine! I'm wondering if it's because it's an older version and they didn't do the root checking?

Just figured I'd let you guys know if case you were too hesitant to try because you were rooted.
