Default [Q] Future updates for known issues

Do you think the future GB update or any other update is due to fix any known issues like, wifi reception, cell reception, gps lock .. or are those firmware updates?

We can only hope so, some people on the threads say it could be certain phones that are so bad, I truely, don't believe that to be true, rather some folks just don't want to admit it, but thats just my opinion

Cell reception - Radio firmware. So only updates from Samsung or your carrier.

GPS lock - there's a little bit in userland, but it seems like the CG2900 firmware loaded by the kernel matters more. I'm curious what would happen if the firmware from the GB kernels were backported to Froyo. Of course, as far as most devs are concerned Froyo is now dead so that backport is unlikely.

Wifi reception - I know very few people who have problems here. Wifi sleep issues might be fixed with a kernel update in the future, but it's unlikely - the BCM4330 driver in 2.6.36.x is as broken as .32 and .35 was. (Galaxy Tab 10.1 has the same wifi chip and the same issues with it not coming out of sleep properly)

HDMI for Gingerbread - will come when AT&T drops Gingerbread. It'll take at least a week or two to integrate the support after the update drops.
*so much sig updating needed*

My Github profile - Some Android stuff, some AVR stuff

An excellent post on "noobs vs. developers"

A few opinions on kernel development "good practices"

Note: I have chosen not to use XDA's "friends" feature - I will reject all incoming "friend" requests.

I hope there is a baseband update. This phone displays half the bars others do. Still holds on to the signal strong but its like the last/smallest bar has a wider range (reminds me of when apple changed how their bars looked like to display a better signal)
