Default Minecraft Pocket Edition is out!

Big news for any minecraft fans out there.... Mojang has released Minecraft Pocket Edition for the Xperia Play! Hopefully it will eventually be released for other phones.

This thread is meant to be discussion of the game and hopefully some development making it be usable for people other than Play users. I have linked the demo (free) version which is installable on any gingerbread phone in the hopes that someone with more knowledge than me can mess with it, if only for fun while we wait for official touchscreen support.

If this is warez remove the link or let me know, I assume it isn't since it is the free version.

I'd say this isn't warez as there is a Buy button within the game. It also says it's a demo version when you try to select other blocks. Unfortunately without getting into the actual code there wont be a way to get any touchscreen controls going. Only thing I can think of is using some sort of Bluetooth keyboard and duplicating the same inputs an Xperia play would send.

Yeah that might be possible... we'd have to probably get somebody with an xperia play to send some info to figure out what we need to duplicate.

I'm gonna see if I can get it going with a PS3 controller.

*edit* After a quick test, the PS3 controller works. I'm gonna have to figure out some configurations, as I can only move forward, back, strafe left and right, but not turn left or right, or press the attack button or whatever it's called. I can jump, though, but it's mapped to start, lol!

awesome, thanks for the input! I will definitely play with that then... wonder how it would react to a wiimote if that would work.

After looking at a tutorial video for the pocket edition, looks like the place block, remove block, hotbar left and right buttons are missing, along with not being able to turn. Is there any chance anyone know what input the Xperia Play uses, so that maybe we can mock that in the PS3 controller key mappings?

Sweet thanks for posting this, this is partially playable on the evo shift, I can move around, change currently help object with the back button, switch 1st and 3rd person with the search button, and move with the control pad.

I can't look up or down, the world only generates so far, and I can't turn any direction, but still very good progress, very fun novelty for now. Can't wait to see updates to this.

semi works on thunderbolt, seems to be mainly an issue of mapping conrtol buttons as with the ps3 controler start is center d-pad the stick and d-pad map to dpad so if we figure out what the plays buttons map to we can work on remaping the ps3 controlers buttons

Great, so the shift keyboard works for some things... I will be testing with a Droid and a Droid 2, along with some video game controllers.

Thanks to a new forum member Uppers, I've been pointed to this website:

http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/wp/201...lay-game-keys/

I believe we shouldn't have a problem mapping out the controls for the PS3 controller. =D

*edit* Tried to move around some input mapping, but none of the said mappings from the Sony website are selectable.
