As was announced last week, Operation:Iron Fist is in full effect. Read about it here.
With that being said, the following will begin to happen:
1. All non-development threads started in the Development section will be moved to the appropriate section and/or closed and the "responsible" poster (in quotes because the fact they posted in the wrong section clearly brings into question whether or not they are responsible) will be infracted.
2. Any abusive posts directed at any user will be deleted and the abuser will be infracted and/or given a temporary vacation. Multiple instances will result in a longer leave-of-absence, and if it continues you will be removed from XDA. You, and your behavior, are not welcome at XDA.
3. Any off-topic posts in the Development section threads will be deleted. These are non-helpful, and certainly not development posts. This includes the following:
"OMG THIS IS SO GREAT!"
"WOW! YOU ROCK AND I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES!"
"THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!"
"THANKS FOR THIS!"
If you want to thank someone for their work, do so by clicking the "THANKS" button on their post.
4. Any post, in any section, that is done to further post count will be deleted and you will face possible infraction.
5. Anything else that goes against the XDA Forum Rules and XDA Mantra will be dealt with firmly, but fairly.

I would have to agree with dfgas on this one. I've been visiting the Droid x, samsung fascinate/mesmerize, and G2X on XDA and it was dumbfounding to see real devs being rejected (dfgas) on XDA despite developing some of the best roms (MIUI). I'm glad they found rootzwiki and how much faster roms are uploaded on that site rather than here. I'm sorry to say, but it's probably too late for redemption XDA. I've seen all the devs already switch to rootzwiki and you'll probably see no more MIUI (the best effin) roms on this site. But.. I thank you for hosting this site for roms in the past.. oh wait, I can't thank you in the development page.

Thanks for the confirmation that XDA is moving in the right direction by returning to our roots - development. It'll take time but we'll soon remove all the trolls and idiots who demand and don't contribute. XDA will become what it once was - development.

I used to come to XDA once a day, sometimes two to three times a day. Now I visit once a week at best. For me XDA has almost nothing to offer anymore. This site was built on developers (its part of your name) and yet you turned up your nose to some of the best you had and now they are gone. If you toss out the people who make you who you are then what is left? The only thing that is left here is a bunch of drama in the wake and the XDA management trying to pickup the pieces.

Hell, make ME a mod, I'll clean this bitch up. And even though i'm only here once a week any more, i'm still more active than the current 'mod'.

Whether someone does or does not receive the title is between the Developer Committee and the requestor themselves. It is also the responsibility of the requestor (as the PM to them states if they are denied) that they can appeal or respond back for more information. It's on them to do that - no one else can do it for them.
This type of discussion has already happened before in other threads and is now done. No more discussion on this as it's not relevant.

Not sure what you're referring to. The rules are there and will be followed and enforced. That's great that you'd love a Moderator with a Mesmerize - but it's not required.
If you desire to be a moderator, then apply. That is the process, which is the same as the process for becoming a Recognized Developer.
It is the role of the users in any forum to report things that they feel are in error or need cleaned up. All of us Moderators here at XDA do this on a purely volunteer basis. We can't monitor every single post in every single thread on the forum. Impossible for anyone to do so. If a user reports something we immediately respond and identify what needs to be done, if anything.
