[Q] Does CRT-mod still disable smooth brightness changes?

Just a quick question - I'm still using a rooted but stock Samsung ROM because in the past a custom ROM with the CRT off effect disabled the smooth automatic brightness changes. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Thinking specifically of Paul's MoDaCo ROM here which I'd like to try.
