Default [Recovery] Clockwork Mod Recovery (Froyo)

I know there has been some confusion as to which recovery kernel and which update.zip file to use. These 2 files are confirmed working CWM Recovery 3.x.x. Yellow.

update.zip - update.zip

CWM Recovery Kernel to be flashed in Odin - cwm_recovery_test4_adryn.tar

Any issues with links being broken please let me know!

Enjoy!

As an addendum, keymapping is as follows;

Vol up and down - Navigate menus

Power button - Menu selections

You will still need to use the softkey to load the update.zip file from the stock recovery.

jaizero;

thank you very much for doing this, i have a few other questions if you don't mind answering in regards to this whole cwm thing (yellow, green and is there another color?) i am just total confused at this point as to what works with what.

i know someone is going to tell me to use the search to get these answers, problem is there are so many different cwm files floating around i am not sure what works on what anymore?

for example:
theme and softkey for 2.2 Froyo on the Continuum
i have tried several (5 of them) of these using the yellow cwm and they all fail. i am not sure if it is something i am doing or what? that is where my confusion is.

what is the main difference of the three?
is there one place on xda that has all three listed for download?
do i need all three?

i guess that sums it up for me, you guys have done a fantastic job on turning this phone from an almost belly up, into more of a beast. i am great full for everything you (the XDA community in a whole) has done for this as well as many other phones.

Phrite;

The actual color is of no consequence its just an artistic touch the dev adds to the recovery kernel.

I only know of 2 working versions for our phone:

CWM 2.5.x - Cyan in color works with Eclair 2.1 and may work with Froyo 2.2 to install Amend scripting zip files.

CWM 3.x.x - Yellow in color works with Froyo 2.2+ and is not backwards compatible and uses Edify scripting.

- You cannot use 2 different recovery kernels at once.
- You must use the kernel that is compatible with the verison of Android your phone is running.
- You must use the update.zip file that is appropriate for the verison of Recovery you would like to use. The ARE NOT interchangable (Not in my experience anyway)
- Pay attention to the Recovery version numbers and not the colors. The devs can make it any color they want.
- CWM Recovery version 3.x.x introduces 'edify' which is explained in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...77886#11796508

All credit goes to Adryn (kernel) and imnuts (update.zip) I'm just providing the proper venue.

Lucky for you I'm not one of those guys thats gonna tell you to search. You've probably been searching all f'in day with no answers. I understand your pain.

I havent tried any of the softkey mods but I will right now and see if I get the same results as you. Ill post back with the results.

Are you on Froyo or Eclair? That is gonna be the deciding factor on why things are or ARE NOT working for you.

Ok I tried installing one of the softkey mods with CWM 3.x.x (Yellow) and it failed giving me the edify script error.

I usually recieve this error when I try to install Eclair with the 3.x.x (Yellow) recovery.

Please see the Softkey Theme thread for further info. I do not want to pollute this thread with anything but recovery questions.

This is probably a silly question but is this only for froyo? Meaning, if i tried to use this while on 2.1 eclair, will it work? Or do i have to be on 2.2+?

CWM 2.5.x (cyan) will work for 2.1.

Sent from my Continuum on stock Froyo 2.2.2.
