Bought a Mytouch 3g (T-mobile simlocked)

wanna use it with a vodafone sim..

do i have to unlock it before rooting or is rooting enough?

and.. will 3g work on other simcards?

If you want to use it with other carriers, you have to get it unlocked. Rooting wont do anything for that

I don't mean to hijack this tread, but I have a similar question: I have a old my touch from tmo it's unlocked what happen if I root the thing? do I lose the unlock or not. thanks

no. it will stay unlocked.

Rooting has nothing to do with unlocking. Doing one will have no effect on the other

Thanks, I've been lurking around for ages, now I got my hands on this old phone and it will be my guinea pig in learning all this stuff; thanks again for the help.
