Question [Q] How to safely restore with Nova Recovery?

Hello everybody!

I really feel that now is the time to ask for an expert advice. A week ago I purchased my first Android device and it's Optimus Black.

It came with version V10C and I got it successfully rooted with the help of useful pointers from this page. Next logical step was installing Nova Recovery and backing up my freshly rooted stock ROM before flashing it with Nova 4.5. All without any troubles so far.

Now I've been playing around with it for a couple of days and just stumbled into something that made me thinking of going back to my rooted stock ROM. Temporarily of course, just to see if the problem exists there as well. The specific problem itself is with Monkey Island under ScummVM where there are many errors with picture drawing (please see the attached image) and also audio is missing. Friend's HTC device plays the same without any errors.

Ok, to the question. How can I restore my backed up stock ROM, test the game there and then switch back to Nova 4.5? And by 'how' I mean how can I do it safely without any problems? Do I have to wipe data before both restores? Will there be any trouble from EXT3/EXT4 differences? I presume there will be no problems executing recovery from stock ROM as it was already rooted before backing it up. I have already backed up my current Nova 4.5 setup and I'm ready to hit restore on my first backup. Will it be that simple or is there something that I should know and/or prepare myself for?

Well, that's what I wanted to ask from you. Thank you all in advance!

Red face Status report

I did it. Or should I say I tried to do it? Restoring was a one click job indeed, but getting things straight again not so. After boot I was welcomed with this amusing screen:
Code:
====================================================

      $$$$$$
      $$
      $$$$$$ $$$$$$ $$$$$$  $$$$  $$$$$$
      $$     $$     $$     $$  $$ $$
      $$$$$$ $$     $$      $$$$  $$

      L G    S E C U R I T Y    T E A M  !
====================================================
Anyway, this is a thumbs-up guide to KDZ flashing and getting V10E in there was very easy. I suspected that there might be additional trouble compared to V10C but wanted to see it with my own eyes. And I saw that I was unable to repeat my previous rooting success. I also tried several other methods but none worked.

But in the mean time I was lucky to remember why I wanted to go back to stock ROM in the first place. Sadly or luckily Monkey Island did not work there either. However, there was sound this time.

Ok, next step was going back version or two. Three actually, as I wanted to see how V10B behaves. BTW, why it's not recommended to flash older versions? It went very smoothly, like rooting as well. Everything went exactly by the book and there was no need to scratch my head and invent any wheels in the process.

Concerning Monkey Island I should probably contact ScummVM Android port hard working team and see if they have any idea what's going on with it.
