Power save features are built into alot of roms. Sure that could save some % of your battery but imagine if you turned on powersave AND used my method. WHOA, youd have so much battery!

Very practical and inexpensive! I use my phone as my main alarm, so I normally charge while on.. but this technique will keep it charged at the right time of the day. Thank You!

Those inexepensive lamp timers are great. I have also used them to for IP cameras and routers that sometimes lock up . The downside of using the is that they are electrical power "vampires" . I guess the electronic models are best if you can find them a deep discount .
