Its not that i dont want to use the oneshot cab install - i guess i will have too eventually
just remember when this rom was first released the trouble i went through -so frustrating - spent almost 2-3 days and nights trying to get it to work fooked up a few sd cards along the way - cab install errors the amount of times reflashing 7004- then microsoft zune error codes forcing updates etc etc So i guess its my fear of going through that again hence the questions and plus time is not on my side at the mo with a new arrival, study and work but i will follow your guidance soon seems alot easier now.Hope you can see where im coming from im not Trying to be difficult i been away from this forum for a while and im not that techinal.

Re my question about sending cab ie 7720-7740 (without having to backup reflash and partition like you said) will that wipe the sd card?Ie android

7720-7740 should not destroy your android partition, but it's a good idea to back up your android to your pc anyway. you never know if your android will go haywire. good to have backup to enable you get back to a usable phone with all your settings and apps in a few minutes. i back up my android after installing any new apps or once a week.

as for flashing yuki's rom, it takes me 2 maybe 2.5 hours to flash everything from the beginning to 8107 using the autoinstaller 7004-8107 cabs method versus the 4+ hours with zune just to get to 7740 from scratch. the autoinstaller 7004-8107 takes you to 8107 in one shot after install v2.1. and you don't have to activate until everything is completed.

Yeah man thanks..Rest? Lol Are you crazy?I missed so much being away from here got ICS yesterday - running sweet and hope to sort wp7 soon. I will try cab 7720-7740 first - if that fails i will def try your method. I Know what you mean about backing up -learned my lesson for sure!You said next wp7 update 8173 is it? When is it likely to be released? and if this rom will not supported (i assume no more cabs) How we gonna update if zune keeps saying phone uptodate?

I don't think that would wipe android buy I've only used 8107 ready roms.

copy what? your android partition? all you need to is place the microsd in an adapter, plug it into your pc and use file explorer similar tool and copy all the files/folders in the android partition. to restore...just copy the backup files/folders back on to the sd card.

to partition the sd after wp7, there's a cab created by xbmod (see related thread in post#2 ) that runs from yuki's rom that will create an android partition for you. be sure to install the storagelock.cab when you get yuki's rom installed. the storage lock/unlocker works with the android partition cab AND whenever you want to boot/into android doing a dual boot with yuki's rom.

are you currently on 7720? if so, then your installation may have gotten corrupted somehow.

as for 8773, who knows when microsoft will officially release it. yuki's rom should update via zune to 8773 when it is released. some of the other roms don't have the ability update via zune. this means a fresh install and reinstall of all your apps and email accts.

I actually forgot about the Dev_extrapart cab - i thought we partition using easeus partition manager program? After flashing wp7 and then stick android on it..just explain Where does this come in again?and why? And do we use both to partition? Or can be done by just cab?

Last question, Yeah im on 7720. android is backed up on pc.
Bearing in mind my sd card is partitioned and that- i got the sd unlock tool and dev extra part on the wp7 installed. ---must remember to unlock sd first----

Can i take the lazy option and go into magdlr / usb flasher then flash eg a wp7 8773 ready rom(assuming this would wipe the sd card ) partition sd card using easeus then adding android --would this method work in theory? (Not considering any lag freezing issues at this moment)
i know im not being sensible and doing it properly ie task29 format sd card.. But would it work?

I am trying to find the xBmod-Yuki basic rom 2.1 so I can unlock my sd card to use on wp7 rom but it is Multiupload and that is no more so is there a place to get it so i can do this

the unlock cab works on any rom (so does devpart tool), but yuki's is the only one that locks the sd card like a real wp7 phone does. locking the sd is a security measure for when you lose your phone...makes it difficult for just anyone to access any personal data on your sd card...makes it look like the sd card is useless.

please read http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1250869 in the android section for partition tool info. this should be flashed as the last cab installed after all of your other wp7 cabs and you're phone is working and stable. again, refer to the thread i have indicated. you can always do the easus method, but that means several steps. with dev_part, it's one shot...flash the cab, reset (can't remember if it's a hard reset or just power off/on). no need to take the sd card in/out of the phone and to the pc. devpart is the lazy way. anyway, you should have the devstoragelock.cab installed before devpart is installed.

you should always task29 when flashing a new rom...even though it's essentially wp7, each flavor is of varying size and features, thus you want to clear out memory of any remnants from other roms.

will be out of pocket for the next several days...going on vacation.
