Wink [DISCUSSION] HP Touchpad only uses ONE of TWO cores

I apologize in advance for lack of info for my claim:

I have a good friend in the QA dept of the HP Touchpad. I gave me two Touchpads and a bunch of info on the device that was not supposed to be known.

He told me, this touchpad is ONLY running ONE core. He said in the future they were going to do an OS update and enable BOTH cores. He gave m this info once it was confirmed that the PC dept of HP will no longer exist for end-users.

Can anyone confirm and possibly get the second core to function?

Another thing, turns out the guy that has been on websites that claims he has the Froyo version for the HP Tablets working and running made people at HP laugh because my QA friends say he currently has the Gingerbread version working fully on the HP Tablet internally. It should be released soon says friend at HP.

Also my version of HP Tablet OS is 3.0.3 which no one has. I know very little about scripting or pulling ROMS or data from devices but if you want the code from my version, let me know how I can help. I would like to get both Qualcom cores running to see actual performance.

EDIT:
I just read that someone was able to get the second core to work on 3.0.2 using an overclock method but no one has heard of 3.0.3 to modify the kernel for dual-core support

As a Rep for HP, I have to tell you that pretty much EVERYTHING that person told you is a lie. on stock 3.x WebOS go download Govnah and look, both cores are running, and if one core ever turns back off, thats because its not needed and will kick back on when it is polled. as for this "He gave m this info once it was confirmed that the PC dept of HP will no longer exist for end-users." that makes no sense as there has been no confirmation of any such thing, if you look at the press release or even CALL hp and ask them for press information, they will tell you that NO decisions will be made WHATSOEVER for atleast 12-18 months. And even then it could just be buisness as usual and nothing changes.

This next one made me laugh

HP never released plans for a tablet that would run android (although the build.prop in the current android dumps that came from supposed touchpads with android on them references Topaz all over the place which i speculate WOULD have been the 7 inch tablet they was also canned, i digress) and seeing as how it was never announced i REALLY doubt they are going to just go "lol okay guys here you go! Have android 2.3.3 for your touchpads! Thanks for not buying our product at fullprice ^_^". It just sounds to me like you "friend" is trying to seem like an insider, someone "On the in" and nothing more.

Well second core works fine here.

And I am sure it's possible to have gingerbread on it... Heck I'm looking at building it for the development board that the touchpad was based on...

Having trouble getting an answer? | What is XDA about? | How to ask for help?

if [ $PM.incoming.type = $type.question.ROM.how_to_use ] || [ $PM.incoming.type = $type.question.ROM.silly_question ]; then mv $PM.incoming /.trash; PM.response($responsetype.ignore); $PM.sender.ignore_in_future=true; init.sequence($boy_who_cried_wolf); fi;

If you wish to apply for one of the Recognized Themer/Contributor titles, or have a question, please DO NOT send me a PM about it. Instead please contact your device's forum moderator, or a senior moderator, who will deal with your application. Thanks

Yea.. umm.. your friend is full of it. Install preware and install govnah. Open it and oh look... both cores.

Now... if its sitting idle... it may only use one. But it most definitely uses both.

Any chance you could share a screenshot of your TouchPad's about screen showing 3.0.3? You know what they say on the internet: "Pics or it didn't happen."

Hold Home + tap Power takes a screenshot, by the way. Are there any major differences you can tell about 3.0.3?
In the post: LG Google Nexus 4 (Android 4.2.1 "Jelly Bean")
Primary: Nokia Lumia 900 (Windows Phone 7.8 "We Don't Need No Stinkin' Codenames"), HP TouchPad (Android 4.1.2 "Jelly Bean")
Other: Samsung Captivate (Android 4.1.2 "Jelly Bean"), iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1 "Steaming Pile")

Actually HP's original tablet plans were to release an Android tablet under Mark Hurd. It was when Leo came in that he decided to completely tank the consumer division by putting out a WebOS tablet with an insanely high iPad-esque pricing scheme.

It is likely that this hardware was made to run Android before it was made to run WebOS.

Default Quick question about over clocking (not sure if 2nd core is being over clocked)

Recently installed preware and over clocked my touchpad to 1.7 ghz. I was reading that there was a bug regarding only one core being over clocked and the other not being over clocked. When i go into govnah it shows core 1 at 1.7 ghz and core 2 as zero. I've also read snap dragon has a power saving feature that doesn't utilize core 2 unless it needs it. But ever since I've installed govnah and overclocked my touchpad, core 2's frequency has not risen above 0 (I check pretty often). Also some times it even says n/a under CPU 2's frequency instead of 0.
Have I been affected by this bug, what should I do to over lock my 2nd core?
