Default Legend rooting order etc

Hi i have the HTC legend 2.2 on vodafone (but not locked just bloatware)

Whats is the correct order if any

1.debrand (done this and it failed) ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR
2.downgrade
3.rooting (does this mean std native htc or is this something you have to do to any htc phone)
4.re put back on 2.2 or 2.3 after downgrade

All i really want is to debrand so i can put in other sim cards and the apn work ok,
o2 sims take about 3 or 4 goes unless you reset to defaults
orange internet does not work period.

Thanks

To fix ERROR [131] you need to create a GoldCard. For a simple method, I have compiled a guide to root the vodafone HTC Legend - www.chirag.co.uk

De-branding your phone doesn't unlock your phone - unless as your phone is from the vodafone Business section.
