[QUOTE=JVH3;17943325]Thanks to wpcentral.
http://www.wpcentral.com/force-mango...medium=twitter
It didn't work for me last night, but this morning it worked.
I'm guessing Zune caches some information on when it checked to see if you are elligible. And waiting until moring made the cache stale, so it worked.
It first updated to 7.0.7403.0 and then it automatically went on to installing 7.10.7720.68.
I have Mango now !!!![ /QUOTE]
Welcome to the Quantum... good to see you again. (We traded ideas/comments back on the Tilt2 thread a while back).
No luck with the 'force' method for me yet -- tried last night and this morning, but with no luck. May just have to be patient and wait my turn....

Things I miss, but not often / Things I am really liking
Ability to record a conversation. I really only used this to make copies of my voicemail, so hopefully visual voice mail will come to AT&T soon and there will be an option to get an mp3 of it.
WiFi Router. Apparently this is possible with the chipset, but some driver is not included. In any case, I think if you switch to the 2GB per month plan, AT&T should not restrict you from sharing those bits with your laptop. I can understand restircting this for those with the unlimited plans. On a technical side, it is different to accept connections verses initiating a connection. But, I really would be interested in knowing what savings LG had by not including the driver.
Other than those 2 things, the expereince far surpasses the basic Windows Mobile, even with Sense 2.5 and Cookie 2.0.
When using bing to find a business, you can pin it to the start menu.
Love the dialer. Nice big areas to press to do anything you want.
Speed and smoothness are excellent.
GPS is way faster. Using 4th and Mayor, a four square client, it is generally only about 1 second to find you.
Love that when i connect my phone to my computer, it always connects. Unlike Windows Mobile Device Center and Windows Mobile requiring a computer reboot.
Love the automotic upload of photos to my SkyDrive.
Although, I liked the ability to remove my SD card, I never actually used except when tinkering between phones.
One thing I do kind of miss. Since everything just works, I kind of miss trying to solve the little problems that would peek there head in Windows Mobile.
When I first saw the tiles when Windows Phone 7 came out, I though the looked way clunky. But they work great. They are easy to press with big thumbs. They are clear to read.
And although multi tasking seems like it should just be there, can you really come up with an example of something other than music that needs it. And with Mango, you actually get managed multitasking which is better so apps can't just drain your battery.
Unless you absolutely need tethering and conversation recording, this phone is a great replacement for the Tilt 2.

How about syncing with Outlook for the contacts and tasks? I read elsewhere that it was not that easy or straightforward and you actually needed to use MyPhone sync method.

Not sure. I haven't synced anything that way since 2008. I do everything over the air. Not sure why anyone would want to do it any other way.
There are plenty of free options available.

I, too, use a Tilt 2 and have recently purchased a used unlocked Quantum from Ebay, so I'm posing my question here...
I've always used ActiveSync to sync my Rhodium, as that is what my work PC uses and all of the data is stored at work (calendar, contacts, tasks), as I am unable to sync at home because that machine uses Device Center. Every time I attempt to sync at home, I get tons of errors or am completely missing information. Previously, both machines utilized ActiveSync, so my home & work world was perfectly in sync, but DC & AS seem to absolutely hate each other, hence my limitation to only syncing at work.
Anyway... I've installed Zune at work and, was going through the motions of setting up a Windows Live ID, etc. on my work PC, only to find out that they've completely blocked access to it. So, syncing via that route is totally unavailable to me.
Is there another way that I can transfer all of my data from Windows Mobile to Windows Phone, which will actually work, without errors? Is there any other way that I can sync by connecting to a PC, so that my data will be up to date all the time?
I have never been in the habit of utilizing Hotmail, Google, etc. for managing my data in the past, as syncing directly with a PC has been so easy. I can totally see the advantage of being able to do things via the Internet, but for Microsoft to completely remove the ability to sync with an actual computer just seems to be ridiculously stupid.
Thanks for any assistance, guys!
Debbie

If you are wanting to sync with Outlook directly, there is not a way.
But, if you start putting your calendar and contacts in your live account, then your phone will get them over the air.
Set your phone to get the email just like you set Outlook up to get the email.
At home, my laptop syncs my Comcast email.
My phone also gets emails from comcast.
I also created another email address which is the same, but @gmail.com instead.
When I get email that I want to keep on my phone after Outlook on my laptop syncs, I forward the email to my gmail account.
For contacts and calendar, I sync with an exchange server at work.
But, you could also set Outlook up to sync that with your live account. Set it to leave messages on server, if you want them to stay on your phone.
Outlook can sync with multiple accounts.
If you are not wanting to use the data, just shut that off and only sync when on WiFi.
It's a little upfront work, but simple once it's setup.

Thanks so much for responding, but I failed to note one very important aspect of my work Outlook (my fault)...
I do not get emails on my phone, as my company doesn't require me to receive work email on a mobile device. If they did, they would issue me a Verizon Blackberry. My company will not allow any personal device to gain access to their Exchange Server. I am only able to sync my contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, etc. I can sync what emails my PC has received through the Exchange Server, but I cannot have email pushed to my device. They have completely locked down any access to all outside mail services, like Google, AOL, Hotmail, etc., so that is why when I tried to set up the Live account, it failed.
This is why removing any access to syncing directly with a computer is extremely frustrating, asinine, and is keeping me from moving on from my beloved Windows Mobile.

I'm not sure why what I suggested won't work.
Comcast is my personal email address.
Or are you trying to replicate data that is already on your work computer?
You won't be able to keep the Outlook data that is on your work computer syncronized with your phone very easily.
But, you can sync your phone with other email services, such as your ISP or Google or Live.
You can easily get all the non email data (contacts, calendar, tasks) from Outlook on your work computer to import into Live, Google, or Outlook at home.
Just do the following in Outlook.
File
Import and Export
Then Export to a file.
Pick the type of file, such as Tab seperated Windows, csv, or pst
Pick the folder, such as contacts
Follow the rest of the instructions it provides.
Now import this into Outlook at home.
Set Outlook to sync gmai with this data.
Now gmail will be syncing with your phone.
You computer will sync this with gmail.
If you update the info from your phone or computer, gmail will be updated.
The other will get updated on the next sync.
If you are trying to get work email on your phone, try setting up a redirect rule. Many companies don't allow redirects or redirecting all.
You probably can create a forward rule though.
From work, can you not even send email to hotmail, gmail, etc.?
Or do you mean you can't check it at work?

You won't be able to keep the Outlook data that is on your work computer syncronized with your phone very easily. I'm rapidly learning this.

Set Outlook to sync gmail with this data. As I've been reading that WP7 syncs with Live, would it make sense to simply import my data files there? I don't currently use Google, Hotmail, Live, etc. for email (only AOL).
Now gmail will be syncing with your phone.
You computer will sync this with gmail.
If you update the info from your phone or computer, gmail will be updated.

You probably can create a forward rule though.
From work, can you not even send email to hotmail, gmail, etc.? Can send but...
Or do you mean you can't check it at work? ... I can't access third-party email systems from work. They've blocked all of them.

Having never exported/imported data from Outlook, I didn't think of that. I've just exported my data and will email those files to my personal AOL address and import those files into my Outlook at home. My home Outlook is not set up to send/receive email. My understanding is that WP7 syncs with Live (correct?), so I will simply set up a Live account and import the data from Outlook there.
I really hope that Apollo does bring back a utility to sync via computer directly or this whole process will have me running... and screaming... back to my Rhodium.
Thank you SO MUCH for walking me through this. I was panicking that the Quantum was going to be useless to me without direct PC syncing ability, but this may just tide me over until Microsoft wises up.

Once you get used to it, you might find that you like it better.
It's always up to date and can be updated from multiple locations (anywhere you have we access). You can log into live and update your contacts using a full keyboard and a large screen. And, you still have the flexibility to do it from the phone.
