The question I have is how is the battery life on GB? After doing some reading, it looks like battery life is not so good on the Droid Pro, but most of the comments are pre GB.
My daughter's phone usage I would characterize as "light". Less than 30 min phone calls a day, less than 20 texts, maybe an hour of games.
I was planning on rooting and either freezing bloatware (TiBu) or renaming apk's.
From what time period are most of the comments that you're seeing? The last official, fully dispersed update that was sent out in April (with which the phone remained on Froyo) solved just about all of the major issues, made good on several promised features, and increased the battery life of the phone. While I was on the Gingerbread leak, battery life was pretty much the same for me as it was after the last Froyo update in April, which was more than enough for a typical day's usage.
As rafeee2 said, if what you listed is what she'll be using the phone for, battery life will not be a problem for her in the slightest, either on the last Froyo update or the Gingerbread update that was never pushed out to everyone (something is supposed to be coming at some point for all users).
