Default Might want to start trade in process now

I'm thinking, based on the timing of this new phone, there are going to he a whole lot of folks just like me who got the Droid X when it first came out and are now eligible for an upgrade and plan on upgrading to Bionic. Verizon has a trade in program based on supply and demand which values a Droid X at $75 right now, but that will surely plummet once a glut of X phones all try to get traded in at once or hit eBay. Since you can lock in trade value for 30 days with no obligation to go through with it you might want to do so. :)

Good idea for those who can take advantage of it.

I looked up my Eris and it said I had to include a $20 bill along with the phone if I wanted to "trade in".

Same here for right now. The Bionic is tempting that's for sure.

Why bother trading in and getting a fraction of what you could get selling on Craigslist or to a buddy?

I bought the Moto Droid in November 2009. By April 2010 I was already on to the Droid Incredible. I gave the Droid 1 to my wife to tide her over. By July 2010 I was on to the Droid X and I gave the Droid Incredible to my wife. We sold her Droid 1 for $250 in July 2010 to a guy that never owned an Android device. And finally in March of this year I bought the HTC Thunderbolt and sold my Droid X for $250 to that same guy that bought my Droid 1. He then flipped the 17 month old Droid 1 for $150 to another guy that had never owned an Android device. By this time the D1 was a shell of its former glory yet the new owner couldn't care less.

I know people that have sold Evo 3Ds and Galaxy S phones for what they paid for it brand new. People will basically pay anything, as long as they think it's worth it. Verizon won't give you close to what some people that desperately want something will. Just my 2 cents.

The reason I would do a trade in is because my power button doesn't spring back out anymore and the OS on my particular phone has always been a bit hinky. (My wife's with everything the same works stellar) so I just wouldn't feel right pawning off my problems on someone else. Not in my nature. Verizon will at least fix and recertify I'm assuming. :)
