OT: what exactly is gpu overclock? and we have fast roms right now so unlocking bootloader is not necessary right? plus unlocking it will not enable synaptics to have real DT

Hi!!! Thanks for the beautiful guide but I've a question about bootloader unlock....

I premise that I'm ignorant about what concern bootloader, so I ask to you what are the benefit in unlock the bootloader, considering that the sim lock is not removed...

Sorry for my question!

Have a nice day!

So if we have unlocked bootloader it will be in the future possibility to take out sim-lock from phone?

If yes what must be done to that?

OC GPU means that you overclock the Graphics Processing Unit of your phone (Adreno 200). This means faster graphics loading and other good stuff mainly to do with gaming.

As I said this is a preparatory step to unlock your bootloader in advance so that when a custom kernel comes, you don't have to do anything other than to flash kernel.

As for benefits, it can be found at the bottom of first post .

@SilverMindPL

No, it doesn't. As blagus mentioned, sim lock is stored in TA (Trim Area) Misc, modifying semcboot will not affect your sim lock. As I mentioned in first post, if your phone is sim unlocked this will restore your sim lock!

Benefits of unlocking bootloader can be found in first post (near the bottom).

@Questioner

Probably, seeing as X10 mini and mini pro already have their custom kernels.

Custom kernels allow for full support with custom roms .

Stupid question...with unlocked bl can be done a better oc of the CPU?So we can oc until 800mhz?Or is just a dream?
I think the most problem of the X8 is the ram,maybe with a swap solution can be solved...and this 49 was payed with success
