Default Amazon App Store in the UK

Following a hint from a friend in Australia, he had found that the Amazon App Store had started to work over there and I have now got it to work on my Desire HD in the UK. Haven't tried on the Vega yet as that is at home and I am at work. Pricing is still in USD, but I could get the free downloads with no problem.

You get the apk by clicking https://www.amazon.com/app-email from your Android device. You need a live Amazon account, but my UK login credentials seem to work fine.

It was confirmed that there seems to be a gradual roll-out by TechRadar today. Not all accounts seem to be able to do it though. I am wondering if it is something to do with Kindle which appears to register my UK account on the Amazon.com web site.

OK, that was clearly a momentary aberration on the part of Amazon as after a couple of days, access seems to have been revoked again.

Sorry to have got any hopes up. Hopefully, it was a test run to a full roll-out in the near future.
