if i do get round to doing this i will remove all the paint of the stock dhd housing and then go for a full respray with some crazy pearl or candy paint with metal flake etc like some do on their cars if you know what i mean ,you might aswell if are going to take it all apart and its only a small peice so it wont cost much

that's a nice job but something I would try i'll probably brake something. Can you buy the metal case you unscrewed? I saw the battery cover and the antenna, sim cover but nothing else.

I don't know if you can buy a seperate metal case but you could buy a full new housing with everything included.
