Default ACL and Alien Dalvik can run Android Apps on Non-Android Devices

Samsung is going to spend 3 Million US dollars as prize money to try to encourage developers to develop more apps for Bada.

My take is they should just use that $3M and pay OpenMobile for its Android Compatibility Layer or pay Myriad for it's Alien Dalvik so that Android Apps can run on bada, problem solved for the users and at the same time
Samsung will still make a profit selling apps on it's Samsung Apps store.

Both ACL and Alien Dalvik can run android apps on non android devices.
ACL demoed android apps running on Meego (nokia N9)
and Alien Dalvik demoed google apps and Photoshop for Android running on
a nokia N900.
Alien Dalvik will even demo Android apps running on,of all things, an Ipad.
(as if apple needed more apps)

So im just saying the money Samsung is using for it's app developer contest
might be better spent on using these available commercial solutions so that
Bada can use android apps without porting.

Problem with ACL and Alien Dalvik is that it's not available for endusers and are both targeted at Manufacturers and Operators.

That's a good idea. How to get Samsung to recognize it now is a different story haha. You could send them a pm on Twitter or something and maybe they'll listen

Swyped from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
Nexus 7, Galaxy Ace II.

Default Good idea but i dont have twitter so would you do it?

I dont use twitter or facebook etc coz im paranoid
Could you do it?
BTW Myriad is out of the picture coz they plan make the android apps
work on other devices via online cloud services which i think sucks.
OpenMobile ACL does reside on the device and doesnt need an online connection to do its magic.

1 Million is only for the money prize of the contest that starts tomorrow.
(100'000$ for the first 10 application that reach 100'000 download, only for bada 2.0 apps)

oh, so I guess they have abandoned the 3 million regular contest and started this top 10 most downloaded thing, which I also find wrong.

Browsing through Samsung Apps did not reveal any download counters for their apps. So.. I doubt they even got apps with 100k downloads thus far. And it does not say anything about apps having to be brand new. One could just recompile its app for bada 2.0 and re-submit it

on february I uploaded 3-4 free themes on samsung apps (before the invasion ),, after one month one of them has exceeded 100'000 download, recently I've checked the whole download counter and they have reach nearly 1 Million of downloads.
A free good app has more and more appeal than a nice theme, so this means even more downloads .
Anyway the constest criteria are 'funny', someone can simply submit his app and then create lots of new accounts and with them download his own app increasing his counter...

If there is a real possibility to have a dalvik vm porting on bada, better to pay for it than for that funny contest...

Aline Dalvik requires always on intertnet while OpenCL resides on the device.
Tsk sometimes i wonder if samsung really knows how to spend its cash to get the most out of it.
