Just bought a Galaxy Tab 8.9 in Thailand.

I would now like to flash it with a european rom, preferably stock-rom without having to root the device or installing another bootloader than provided by Samsung.

Is this possible? If so, what rom should I use to get swedish language in all places?
Will it also work to do a factory reset after this (if possible from the start) so it wount fall back to the Thai rom?

Regards
Daniel

Yes its possible if you have a p7300 or p7310.
If you have a p7300 then KK5 is good.
If you have a p7310 then KJ5 is good.
You can find them in development section.

I heard there was a silent update to Android 3.2 for the 8.9, but my device says 3.1 with no update available. Is that rumor true or is this still a 3.1 device? Do I have to install a custom ROM to get 3.2? If not, how do I get it?

Thanks.

In some regions the Android 3.2 update is available. You can download official Android 3.2 rom from development section if you don't want to wait for the update for your region.

Default New here

Hi Guys,

I'm new here to root and android. I'm thinking of rooting it to the kk5.

Can I ask how do I backup my stock rom so that I can revert it in case of warranty claims? My Stock rom is P7300XXKJ2 and it is not available in this forum yet.

Is this by CWM recovery and then NANDROID Backup?

Wipe your system using CWM Recovery's "wipe menu", do a "wipe data/factory reset" and after that "wipe dalvik cache", now go to the "storage menu" and select "format /system". Then proceed to the "nandroid menu", select "restore" to select your backup.

Will these instruction help me to restock it to my original stock rom? All CWM and rooting traces will be gone?

No, flash stock rom through ODIN to delete cwm.

Negative. If you saw the Nandroid FAQ right in my thread, you would know that tool is for backup. Read every bit of the thread since everything is important and concise. The FAQs in my thread cover your questions.

Sorry, i'm really new so a bit confuse!

Coming to my first question, how do I backup the stock image on my current tab so that I can flash it using odin in case of a warranty claim?

You actually don't need to backup. If you can post the following information, then we can find your stock rom on Samsung update server.

Look in the following files and post what is there:
system\CSCVersion.txt: ?
system\csc\customer.xml only one line: <SalesCode>?</SalesCode>

and from Settings > About device:
Baseband version?
Build number?
HTC One X (Stock Android 4.0.4)
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Stock Android 4.2)
LG Nexus 4 (Stock Android 4.2)
Asus Nexus 7 (Stock Android 4.2)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 3G (Stock Android 4.0.4)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 3G (Android 4.1.2 AOSP ROM)
