Default Coby Kyrosw Mid7022 Touchscreen doesn't work

OK I have a Coby Kyros 7022 I picked up online for $20 on a store clearance. it was a return that the touchscreen doesn't respond. The tablet powers up and the seller said it will use a mouse.

I am leaning towards a bad firmware flash/upgrade. Having read this
Quote:
DO NOT USE FWTOOL! YOU WILL BRICK YOUR TOUCH SCREEN!
if this is the case, does anyone know if this is fixable by reflashing?

I have a copy of the latest stock rom and all the CM7/Clockwork files.

Anybody more familiar with these pads have a suggestion of what to try first? I am going to crack the case and check the cables but if it isn't that simple(when is it ever?).

I figure even if it is a bad screen for $20 I can buy a replacement and replace it, or just use a mouse and turn it into a mini HTPC.

If the TS was bricked by using FWTool, there is no fix; FWTool erases the EEPROM of the TS.

But if that isn't the problem (the EEPROM hasn't been erased) than replacing LK.ROM with a copy that will work might fix the TS.

The problem is, finding LK.ROM.

I bought a 7022 with a partially-functioning touchscreen (only a strip down the left side of the screen detects touches). I don't know exactly what the history of the tablet is, but it was flashed with a non-factory OS. I can only assume that LK.ROM needs to be replaced but I can't find a good copy; fun's ROMs haven't helped at all, unfortunately.

hi all...

i dont think that fwtool has access to the sis9202 EEPROM via i2c, but i cant stil understand what fwtool atually does at software or even hardware level. but anyway the best way to try to know that is doing a reverse engineering to the fwtool. i have successfully decompiled the apk. but im out of time and acknowledges to understand what´s going on the app.

so if anybody is interested and have time to spend trying to understand how the app function i will post a zip file containing the decompiled app...

the best shot is build an app that reads the firmware from a working TS so it can be used in fwtool to restore briked TS
