So Ace will be capable to run on ICS
Very true open source android shouldn't be like sense getting bogged down and heavy. If it were heavy on resources I will call it vista and remain with xp.

Well part its true, but what is premium hardware now, it will be mid ranged in a year and its that mid range type of phones which would use the new OS. I couldn't be happier if our boy gets ICS, but well I'm aware it has its top and there will be a point when software will not be able to support it.
If not ICS then Jelly Bean.

There is an ICS launcher on the market by Team Syndicate which works quite nicely - even has the browser button to bring up apps browser list.

Only issue I had was it was 5 icons wide and therefore tended to give that squashed up effect - but everything worked. It will probably be the closest we will get to ICS on the ace.

We may get an ice cream update becoz, if samsung wants to sell ace in europe, then they definately need an software upgrade to avoid patent infringement.

Our beloved SGA will not get an ICS update, nor any other update higher than the current 2.3.4.
That's an inside info from Sam.
