Default Add custom SMS & default ringtones?

Loving my S2, but have a question... you can assign custom ringtones to individuals, but it seems you can't add to the built-in ring tones or sms tones. You only have the option to pick their tones and not select a custom MP3. Am I missing an option or setting that will allow this?

You can set custom ringtone from any music player or from music library by going to options on mp3 and select "set as ringtone"

In checking, you can set a ringtone, an alarm, but not a default SMS.

You can do it by making a folder in your sd card labeled media and dumping any mp3 there.

You can also download from myxer and it asks you what you want to save it as. You can save as noti, ringtone or alarm. And you can assign it to a contact or set it as default. Just throwing that out there.

Am trying out Zedge (look in App Store) for this purpose. Seems to have a good variety of sounds and does do a good job of setting them for you.

I use an free app called "ringtone maker" from the market, it works great. It edits mp3s & allows you to even fade it in & out, or increase/decrease the volume. It gives you the option to save it as a ringtone, notification, or alarm & to set as default, assign to a contact, email it, or just exit the app.
