Hi, happy NY. As a somewhat of a present - first POST in 2012

Thanks for the topic, this is usefull as i had lost all hope when I found out with s-on i will not be able to install any custom roms

Still im not all that sucessfull, faced one general issue and didnt see them referenced in replys to your topic:
my bootloader was searching for PB99IMG.zip instead of PB31IMG.zip, but simply renaming it didnt do. When it was checking the RUU, it said "model ID incorrect update failed!" there are a couple of topic on this, but they weretn helpful.
Would you know what's this about?

My HTC Desire has hboot ver prior to 1.06, something like 0.93-0.92 i think. If this is relevant...

zergRoot wouldnt help as it still relies on using the same RUU, right?

Actually as the thread is for Incredible... I think I should use some other RUU for Desire. Would you be able to point ot it? Make sense MODEL ID of Desire doesnt match the Incredible one

I dont know if this would even work on a desire. You could try it with the correct ruu for your phone, but i wouldnt, it could mess things up. Most of the commands probably wont work anyways as some contain system paths for the incredible that are probably not the same on the desire. Also most of the other needed files found in this thread will not work for the desire such as unrevoked and clockwork mod.

I can tell you unrevoked and the recoveru tool were working fine. So unvolentarily i became a tester
Also this thread was recommmended by another thread that deals with Desires having S-ON

But anyway, at the end as i didnt know waht RUU to use best, I just used revolutionary to S-OFF the device.
Thanks

htcdev will NOT give you s-off. it will give you an unlocked s-on. while htc dev does give you access to recovery, boot, and system,it is not by any means the same as an unsecured bootloader(s-off).

it will not let you change radios, and it will not let you roll back the firmware to older versions. basically, while its allowing us some access to flash roms, etc.,it is still doing security checks.

further,it is possible that this hboot may start doing additional security checks that *could* prevent it from being overwritten. just ask the evo 3d guys how their quest to roll back to s-offable fomrware is going after a sneeky OTA replaced their hboots with the htc dev **locked** one

i would pretty strongly reccomend downgrading and becoming s-off FIRST,if you want to play with htcdevs unlock method.

Could someone upload the required files to downgrade and obtain root and s-off to a different fileshare site. the ones in the original post won't let me download.

They worked for me. You'll just need to use the depositfiles or Wupload links.

I am trying to downgrade a friend's incredible. I am scratching my head because the bootloader won't recognize his pmgXXx.zip file. It searches but is not recognizing it.
NVM- As I'm typing this I have realized I am looking at his internal memory (shown as removable drive) which is formatted FAT32 so I need to format SD-CARD. stupid me lol
