Default One week. No root and no s off.

It makes me wonder if I should get this unit now. I guess I'll hold on. Although I hate Samsung.

Be patient. It's not easy to out-smart HTC. We can get temp root. That's easy! But the thing keeps rooting itself when we reboot. It's not permaroot but it's a start. Just coming from a Vibrant, I'm glad that I made the switch to HTC! Even without root this phone is much better to use in my opinion.
Device(s) Info:

HTC Amaze 4G :
Energy ICS | Rooted | SIM Unlocked | HBOOT-1.93.2222 JuopunutBear S-OFF | Recovery 4ext | Kernel: HTC Stock

HTC EVO View 4G:
[ACS]CleverNameHere Rom RLS 1 (HC) | hboot 6.14.5556 | Revolutionary S-OFF | TWRP 1.0.3 Port

Samsung SGH-T959 Vibrant (unlocked) :
FFC v2 Mod
| Bionix NextGen 2 | Kernel: OverStock 2.4.1 | KB5 Modem | ClockworkMod Recovery

Just have patience. The devs are working extra hard to root this phone. Its like HTC loves to challenge the devs by making their devices harder to crack than normal.

As others have said, be patient.

Recently, HTC has made their devices hard nuts to crack, but every one of them has been cracked.

I had a Vibrant and seriously considered getting the SGS2, even after I swore I would never buy another Samsung phone, because of the GPS and update debacles. I went into the T-Mobile store to play with both, first I grabbed the SGS2 and played with it for a while. The first thing that I thought was, "Ok, this is a bigger, faster Vibrant. I don't really want another Vibrant".

Then I picked up the Amaze, and the first thing I thought was, "Holy crap! This thing is beautiful!". After going back and forth between the 2 for about 10 minutes, it was clear to me, that the Amaze was just a higher quality device. It is going on a week of me having it and I have absolutely no regrets.

Sure I'm disappointed that wifi calling isn't supported yet, and that they are starting to play games with wireless tether, but those things are software, which means they can be changed/fixed. What cannot be changed is hardware. The aluminum case of the Amaze feels and looks wonderful. I know there are a lot people gripping about aspects of the screen, but I think it is excellent. Anyone that is surprised that the AMOLED display is a little better than the SLCD, hasn't been paying attention over the last year or so. Just because it's a little better, doesn't mean the SLCD is bad. Because it is bigger than the Amaze screen but has the same resolution, the pros and cons of it pretty much cancel each other out, in my opinion.

Root and S-OFF will come.

This was definitely well written. Patience is KEY guys. I'm sure the devs won't let you down. Make sure you buy them a cold one or a hot one (Coffee) when its all said and done.

The Amaze has qHD display, not SLCD.

Get the Amaze, this phone really needs Nothing More :)
Feels Good, Looks Good, Great screen and Fast, no lag

I will root and S-Off simply to remove bloat and be able to install some root apps. This is one Fast, Smooth device.

S-Off comes when it comes, the bloat has no effect, just have no use for all that stuff, and want the icons outta here :)
