[HOWTO] Kill/Change the TERRIBLE T-Mobile Startup/Shutdown sounds

This post assumes you have root

Instructions:

To change your bootup sound remove/replace :

Code:
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
To change your shutdown sound remove/replace :

Code:
/system/media/audio/ui/PowerOff.wav
Hope that helps!

On a side note, the shutdown animation is stored in :

Code:
/system/media/video/shutdown/shutdown.qmg
and the startup animations are in :

Code:
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg 
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
but I have not tried removing them (pretty sure it's safe if I remember correctly from the vibrant)

Does anyone have the Bionix startup/down sounds from the vibrant saved anywhere (Sounded like a lady talking)? That would be great. My search turned up one post but the link is dead.

Found it if anyone else wants it! The megaupload link still works. I didnt flash it but if you unpack the zip the audio files are in there. You will have to convert the shutdown to wav, it is currently in .ogg format. Move them to the folders listed above and make sure they are named to the file name you are replacing.

So to change the boot animation do i rename the bootanimation.zip to bootsamsung.qmg?

No, this is not possible yet. Once a kernel is made that will allow bootanimation.zip you will then be able to change the boot animation but not now with stock.

I've renamed the files to bypass them during shutdown/startup but there is still a delay. Is the startup delay part of the system loading or is it programmed to allow for the t-mobile startup animation? Basically, I'm wanting to know if there is a (simple) way to remove the blank screen delay when booting.
