Insomniac's Nightmare Series


Deep in the darkest recesses of JHutson456's mind lies the most horrific nightmare of all... A STOCK PHONE!!! RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!
This ROM is as simple and straight forward as it gets. This is what the MyTouch 4G was on 3 Nov 10. It's stock EVERYTHING! Hell, it's even the stock kernel! When I found this and built it (a really funny story as to how and why this happened) I started to really appreciate what all the devs out there do. I release this as a simple breakdown of the stock HTC Glacier builds with Root and Busybox. All three builds HTC has released for the Glacier are represented here. 1.1 is the MySense Android 2.2 build (think day one of release out of the box) 2.0 is the 2.2.1 update which came out just after the phone was released. 3.0 is the recent 2.3.4 update. I enjoy showing you guys my learning process and I hope you enjoy watching. There is lots more to come, but these early moments are meaningful to me and as such I share them with you.

Recommended Install Instructions

1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Format /system

IF YOU ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS, REINSTALL USING THE ABOVE AND ADD:

5. Format /sdcard

-Converted into standard ROM layout
-minor ui_print tweak to the updater-script
-minor build.prop edit (altered to display "Insomniac's Nightmare" in the Software Number)
-added root
-added busybox
-added bash support
-zipaligned
-deodexed

NOTES:

This build was intentionally left as supremely stock as possible. I added root and busybox to it for full root capabilities. I deodexed it for any of the themers out there who wish to work with this. Beyond that, it truly is stock. Believe it or not, I see requests all the time for a stock ROM, so I share this with you now.

Can i ask why you do not use the official update of the gingerbread Tmobile? If you would do it will be a great rom. My dream would be GB stock with: supporting ext4, deoxed, root, busybox, multilanguage. The top choice would be to offer 2 roms: with and without sense. Thanks for your hard work.

Insomnia strikes again! Sorry about that, all fixed. When I put the link in I crossed the link (had the link name, which you were seeing) correct but the link target (hidden, but where the link actually goes) wrong.

If you downloaded before this post, you downloaded last weeks MIUI build, you can get the correct build now!

Haha yeah I figured that out after I downloaded and started to edit it and noticed the files weren't the same. Haha thanks for the swiftness. Insomnia is a very apt name. :)

No problem, glad I was still awake

The OP at ACSyndicate has been updated with Nightmare 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0.

Each is a stock build with very minor tweaks of the 3 MyTouch 4G builds. Android 2.2, Android 2.2.1, and the newest update 2.3.4. All rooted and with busybox.

Check them out! I'll update the op here tomorrow, I'm at work but wanted you guys to know :)
