Default [Q] My first attempt to root ZTE Blade.

I have a Gen1 Blade and i have some questions,

1.does the process of converting the radio to Gen2 unlocks the 512 MB?
2.does the same process needs my phone to be rooted?

It should unlock the full 512MB RAM if your phone physically has it, for example some European Blades have 512MB RAM in the phone, but are limited to 256MB by the software. Using a TPT can let you unlock the full amount. On Chinese Blades that only physically have 256MB, your phone won't boot if you use it.

You don't need to be rooted to use a TPT.

Total Phone Transfer. Its what you need to do to convert the radio to Gen 2. See this for how to do it.

Thx for your help!

@http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/ZTE_Blade_%28Gen1%29:_Radio_Conversion_and_Recover y

@ step 5 you can read : "will automatically boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery" ,so isn't a root needed??

Sorry missed this. You don't need to be rooted. The TPT installs Clockwork as well, but you don't need root to run the TPT.

Anyway, if you want to root your phone, you can try Universal Androod or Z4root (with z4root you can make permanent root).
