Default GPL Compliance

Mods:

I know that XDA doesn't allow copyright infringement. There is a clear policy : Do not upload warez/cracked apks. My question is: Why isn't this policy extended to GPL software? Is copyright infringement less important when it's GPL software than other random restrictive license?

I see a lot of custom kernels, and no source code for any of them. That does indeed violate the GPLv2 License.

6. Do not post warez.

If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.

This rule is specifically about warez. There is a rule somewhere about gpl, I'll get an answer for you.

Here's your answer. Yes they should be giving source codes, and yes if they are not then they are violating said license. Yes technically all infingements should be deleted or closed until the source code can be posted.

I will contact the OP of the specific post you're referring to.

That's in the i9000 forum, we don't have mod powers there.
