hi all, just installed ics onto my uk based galaxy note, i would like to do a plain root so that i can use apps that require it without anything else, im new to this and would like to know...

1) if i root when a update for ICS pops up on my phone will it update and keep root or does it stop the auto phone updates?
2) i understand i can unroot if i need to send phone off for repair to unvoid warranty YES?

thankyou for your time

EDIT:-

ok i have just rooted using the method on page one...

Download the [CWM zip] and put in your Ext SDCARD ] And [ SUPERSU-Busybox-Installer.zip] to SD card (internal memory)
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage. (use vol up/down to select, power to enter)
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard (Now use touch function to select choice)
Choose and Install SUPERSU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Rooted

...and i dont know if it worked, my phone rebooted back to ics but NOTHING WAS WIPED, i was sure my rom world wipe clean, is this true, i do how ever now have a superSU app in my list,

can someone confirm if its ment to wipe my rom/app or not please

Arrow ICS 2 GB

What is the safest way to revert back to a GB ROM from ICS ROm ?

The root procedure were the same as the SGS2 process? In SGS2 forum just using CF-Root kernel from Chainfire and you will have permenant root. Why galaxy note cannot used the same procedure using pc odin? I think its much safer than using mobile odin.

Then using triangle away to remove your counter.

There's so many root guide and kind of make me confuse.

There is no so many method. Just look to OP
1.There is only method for ICS ROM - cwm.zip methos
2. For gingerbread
Older ROM s are rootable - There are two methos but one gives you only Root, Other gives you Root + CWM. All otherwise both are same, using Zergrush exploit.
Newr GB are non rootable and you need to downgrade first to older ROM or Install prerooted ROM.
Hope this should remove your confusion.
