Fresh Evo 3d 4.2.0

for your Sprint CDMA Evo 3d!

From 4.1.0 to 4.2.0:

• Updated to the latest Sprint/HTC OTA (2.17.651.5)
• CIQ has been completely removed in this release, including the kernel drivers. 100% CarrierIQ free.
  • HTC Did leave their own logging system in place (1 apk, 1 binary, 1 lib) so I stripped that out
• Disabled GPS icon so that it isn’t visible when GPS is disabled to clean up the taskbar (thanks jschisurf)
• Removing dancing droid in phone as there were a large number of complaints of slow downs and other issues
• All the usual fresh goodies were re-done for the new OTA. A non-all-inclusive list:
  • deodex
  • zipalign
  • pngopt
  • 7-in-1 reboot menu
  • usb debugging icon disabled
  • flattened rosie widgets / rosie super scroll
  • camera modifications to add extra features
  • sms/mms modifications to add extra features
  • disabled pagination in rosie
  • battery % in taskbar
  • unlocked sprint hotspot
  • bottom led panel dimmed
  • additional quick settings
  • gtalk v1.3 with voice and video chat

• Why am I getting FC’s on gmail/market/voice search/whatever?
  • FC’s can be a common issue when /system/app contains an app that you already have on /data/app. So if you get a FC on gmail, the market, or something similar, then it can generally be fixed 99.99% of the time by either wiping that particular apps data (Settings < Manage Applications < All < YOUR APP < Clear Data), or going in and uninstalling it which will actually force it to use the one /system/app.
  • Or, of course, can be fixed 100% of the time by doing a full data wipe before installing! I have verified this rom as 100% FC free (at boot at least) so if you have issues, it’s your particular setup.
• Why do I get invalid signature when flashing?
  • This zip is signed the same as I’ve signed every other rom for the last 2.5 years but was getting invalid signature from TWRC 1.1.1. So make sure signature checking is disabled. You can compare the md5 below to make sure your download is good though.
• Is this Ice Cream Sandwich? It says it’s version 4.x?
  • No. This is version 4.x of Fresh Rom. The Android version is always in my change log and unless it’s tagged as a dev rom, will always be the newest official OTA, or possibly a beta tag for a leaked OTA.

• Every time I reboot I’m getting some “Tell HTC” prompt, how do I stop this?
  • Menu < Settings < About Phone < Tell HTC < Uncheck “Report errors to HTC”

• I always listen to the community as a whole and if enough people want something then I will generally add it to my rom. So feel free to ask. However if it's something that only a few people want then I request that you do it yourself and submit a mod/theme/patch for the others to use!

• ATTENTION IF YOU ARE ON HBOOT 1.5: YOU MUST FLASH THE BOOT.IMG MANUALLY THROUGH FASTBOOT OR USING AN APP CALLED FLASH IMAGE GUI PRIOR TO FLASHING THE ROM OR IT WON’T BOOT PROPERLY. I BELIEVE THIS ONLY AFFECTS S-ON USERS, AND IT’S BECAUSE YOU CAN’T FLASH THE BOOT.IMG IN RECOVERY LIKE NORMAL. SO IF YOUR PHONE ISN’T BOOTING, THIS IS WHY!! FLASH THE BOOT.IMG IN FLASH IMAGE GUI FIRST, THEN REBOOT TO RECOVERY AND FLASH THE ROM. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE BOOT.IMG FOR FRESH EVO 3D 4.2.0 RIGHT HERE: http://link.geekfor.me/fresh420bootimg

Install Notes: This update does not require a data wipe if you are on a stock-ish Sprint/Sense rom. If you are coming from another rom then a wipe may be required. Always perform a nandroid backup before flashing.

There was a radio update with this OTA however a number of users are reporting random reboots with the newest radio so I’ve chosen to not include it or even recommend it at this time.
