It should give back command input almost immediately, or hang a little and then throw an error. If no error, check if module is loaded with lsmod.

logcat after use code.
In terminal, jump to next line after use (works). On the second try, says file exists

Light sensor works

That's good, as it means the driver is ok. So the issue is that framework is not loading it correctly. Will spend some time checking this and the sensor stuff.

Yes, but it's not that easy I'm afraid as it's for a different architecture, and the kernel driver it's written for is completely different.

arco,

I do not know much about android linux. Myself I use

$ uname -a
Linux Berlin 3.3.3-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Apr 23 09:33:32 UTC 2012 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G840 @ 2.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Within arch, kernel modules are loaded via /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf. If I remember right, e.g. debian just uses /etc/modprobe.conf.

As mentioned before, I have no clue if android 4 is behaving like this as well.

Just for your information:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Modprobe.conf

Keep on with this excellent work

//edit: adjusted reference link
//edit2: wronge poste quoted - correct now.
