Default Does European version Samsung Galaxy Note has NFC & 1700 band support?

Does European version Samsung Galaxy Note has NFC & 1700 band support? I am looking to buy this device from ebay and use it on T-Mobile USA. Can someone please advice. European version says NFC support optional. Does it mean chip is there but the current OS doesn't support it? I have seen 1700 band on the phone OS display that can be activated, but not sure this 1700 band is actually functioning, not just a place holder.

Please someone provide some info...thanks.

Short answer: No NFC, no 1700.

Slightly longer answer: The phone would still work on T-Mobile USA, but only on Edge. So data would be slow. Also NFC is normally located in the battery, so there is a chance it will be available down the road as an add-on. But I highly doubt it.
Phone: Galaxy Note LTE, Epic 4G, EVO 4G, DROID Incredible, HD2, AT&T Tilt2, AT&T Tilt

Someone from the same forum reported that the Netherlands version has 1700 band. He posted a link to the website from which he bought too, http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...9&postcount=39

However, no confirmation if it's supported by an actual chip or just a placeholder like you said. And I think I saw somewhere that says the 4G LTE version in Korea supports 1700 as well - I can't remember where I saw it so don't get your hopes up (I want the Note too :))

It's just the antenna that's located on the battery. The NFC chip is on the device itself (see for instance website nfc.cc).
If your device doesn't have the chip, then no NFC for you! ...regardless of the battery you use.
