Can someone explain to me how to mod the system background on the 42 firmware (the background when you go to settings)?

I tried to replace images in 2 files:
framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\semc_bg.png
framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\semc_bg_bright.png
framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\semc_general_bg.png
framework-res.apk\res\drawable-land-hdpi\semc_bg.png

SemcGenericUxpRes.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\semc_bg.png
SemcGenericUxpRes.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\semc_bg_bright.png
SemcGenericUxpRes.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\semc_general_bg.png
SemcGenericUxpRes.apk\res\drawable-land-hdpi\semc_bg.png

Nothing changes. Also choosing other themes from within the SE Theme Chooser does not work. The images are the same resolution and format. No errors whatsoever. Am I missing something?
