Default Camera on EI22

the native Samsung camera app on EI22 does not give the option to have no sound for the shutter. they offer three annoying options. does anyone have the old camera app anywhere? updating the firmware seemed to go nowhere.

There's already a thread on this in the general section.

In some states they have made it against the law to actually turn off the shutter sound. That's probably why there is no longer an option. The MIUI camera has a shutter off option and so does the CM7 camera but the CM7 camera wont work with EI22 ROMS, I tried it. MIUI does though

There's a quick fix by editing the Camera app preference xml file. I imagine that adding the option back into the menu wouldn't be terribly difficult, and probably better than switching apks entirely. But I don't have time to do that right now.

Can you site or link to the state laws in question?

I was unaware of such laws in the states. To my knowledge, the sounds were baked back in because these phones are also in Korea? The origin of Samsung, which in their country, its illegal to have no shutter, therefore, its in the camera.apk's universal app for that sole reason. I don't have a dog in this fight and I'm no lawyer either, lol. Just sharing what I know. And if there are some states who forbid it to where it was turned into a law, then you've enlightened me my friend.

Just install zip with CWM. Must have a DeOdexed EI22 ROM.

I tried editing the xml file as you suggested but it doesn't seem to stick on EI22 ERA v4.0.1. Yes, I made sure Camera app was completely killed before editing and saving. No dice...

Same ROM here, same result. Edited the .xml file as suggested by wtogami and it didn't stick. Actually, reverted to "Sound 1". Not a huge deal, I just find the camera sound annoying.
